In this guide you will learn how to install and be authorized in the Monosnap, as well as get acquainted with the basic functionality of Monosnap.


Go to this link to download Monosnap. Follow all instructions and open Monosnap after installation.

Note: Monosnap’s iconMonosnap icon in the main bar.jpgwill appear in the menu bar.



To log in Monosnap, click on the icon on the menu bar and select Preferences – Account. If you have never passed the registration procedure at the Monosnap site, in the window that appears, click Register to create an account and register via e-mail or Facebook.


If you already have account, click Login. Then enter your login and password in the Monosnap. Don’t worry, if you forget the password of your account. It can always be restored.


Beginning of work

Open Monosnap and click to the iconMonosnap icon in the main bar.jpg on the menu bar to open the drop-down menu.

Here you can see next options:


  • Capture Area allows to make a screenshot of separate window or selected area of your screen. Capture Area has several additional modes:
      1. Capture separate window by one click.
      2. Select screen area and hold Shift to select square area.
      3. Select screen area and hold  to record video.
      4. Select screen area and hold ⌘ to turn on frozen mode. Frozen mode gives you additional 5 sec. to capture screenshot. This mode is useful when you want to capture drop-down menu, for example.
      5. Press ⌘+С to copy color.


  • Capture Fullscreen – allows to make a screenshot of full screen.

Note: If you connected multiple monitors, Capture Fullscreen will catch the area of all monitors.

  • Record Video allows to record video. In the menu bar, icon with camera cam.jpgmust appear, when you choose Record Video. If you press on this icon, drop-down menu will appear with next options:
    1. Start recording
    2. Show settings
    3. Switch to full screen mode or Switch to windowed mode
    4. Quit video recorder

  • Make Selfie allows to make selfie or record video from your web-cam.


  • Latest Uploads is list where you can find last uploaded with Monosnap files. Here you can find:
    1. Small preview of file
    2. File’s name
    3. Date and time of upload
    4. Chain. If you press on it, link on the selected file will be copied to a clipboard.


  • Open allows to open any image with Monosnap Image Editor.
  • Show Image Editor opens Monosnap Image Editor with latest screenshot which was made on your mac. If you hover the cursor to the any button of Monosnap Image Editor, you’ll find hints with hotkeys. Monosnap 2016-09-12 17.14.08
    Using Monosnap Image Editor, you can:

    1. Add different graphic elements such as arrows, lines and text.
    2. Undo Undo.png  or Redo Redo.png your latest actions.
    3. Add to an existing screenshot one or more other +.png.
    4. Type name and extension of your screenshot.
    5. save.png screenshot.
    6. upload.png screenshot to default storage.
    7. With бутер.png button you can upload the screenshot to the selected storage.
    8. Use Monosnap 2016-09-12 17.20.18 tools for drawing. Also you can paste text from clipboard to your screenshot.
    9. Use Monosnap 2016-09-12 17.24.50 blur tool.
    10. Use Monosnap 2016-09-12 17.25.24 crop tool.
    11. Use Monosnap 2016-09-12 17.25.51 resize tool.


  • Monosnap storage open Monosnap storage in your browser. Here you can create folders with New folder button for more suitable storage and search of files.

    Also, you can move and delete any file from Monosnap storage. Just select any or several and press Move or Delete.

  • Preferences.
    Default preferences in Monosnap.
    Let stop on some important points. You can set up next options:
  1. Actions after screenshots and after upload

  2. Image file Format. You can choose jpeg or png.
  3. For mac with retina display, you’ll find one more option – Shrink Retina snaps. This option allow to reduce your screenshots 4 times.
  4. Filename template. This template will be pasted in the name of file every time.
  5. Hotkeys
  6. Fonts. In the drop-down list, you can find all system fonts. You can type part or full name of the font to find it in the list.
  7. Account. Here you can set up connection to a third-party cloud services. There is list of third-party cloud services which are free: Amazon S3, WebDAV, FTP and SFTP. If you buy ONCE a paid package, you’ll be possible to connect to, CloudApp, Dropbox, Evernote and Yandex.Disk.
